Stability Limits of Counter-Propagating Self-Focused Light Beams

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

In this work we present the results of counter-propagated light beams stability investigation. Tha spatial structure of these beams (filaments) is connected with self-focusing in resonant media. The interaction of light beams E±(r⊥) (with frequencies on a blue wing of resonant transition) propagated to z and -z directions respectively, is defined by whereI± = |E±|2 are the beams powers in transition saturation units.
