Abstract
The conventional interest in phase conjugation of the CO2 laser light by a degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) is due to the fact that this process is threshold-free, that reflection may be accompanied by an amplification, and so on. Phase conjugation of the CO2 laser light has been achieved earlier by the DFWM in resonantly absorbing gases, semiconductors, liquids and liquid crystals (see, e. g., Refs. 1,2 and references therein). Further development of the output (energy, spectral, efficiency of reflection, etc.) characteristics depends entirely on the success in the search for and studies of new nonlinear media.
