Abstract
There has been significant recent interest in using copper vapour lasers (CVLs) for nonlinear frequency conversion and pumping of solid-state laser materials.[1,2] The high beam quality requirements of these applications necessitate the use of high magnification (M = 20-100) unstable resonators with the CVL because of its inherently high gain and short inversion time. Maximum utilisation of the CVL output for such applications requires accurate characterisation of the spatial, temporal and spectral characteristics of the CVL output.
