Abstract
Strong current modulation in semiconductor laser diodes has recently received much attention, especially in microwave analog fiberoptic transmission.[1-5] Under such circumstance the output of modulated laser diodes exhibit harmonic distortion, bistability, and period doubling (PD) route to chaos. The effects of nonlinear gain suppression factor, spontaneous emission factor and Auger recombination factor on the PD phenomena have been examined numerically in the modified rate equations.[3, 4] To model the dynamical behaviors of laser diodes more realistically, the effects of the random Langevin noise source are taken into account. In this summary, the influences of Langevin noise on the first onset of PD are presented.
