Very Large Third Order Nonlinearities via Cascading of Second Order Nonlinearities

Abstract

We show that materials with large second order nonlinearities (>100 pm/V) can give rise to a huge non-resonant intensity-dependent refractive index n2 in the range of 10-10 to 10-12 cm2/W.
