Abstract

The cross-phase modulation (XPM) between optical signals has resulted in many interesting phenomena such as pulse compression and wave breaking,1 modulation instability in the normal dispersion regime2 and suppression of the soliton self-frequency shift.3 In this paper, we consider the copropagation of two optical waves of different frequencies in single mode birefringent fibers.
