Abstract
In recent years, much work has been done using the nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) to model the behavior of an optical field propagating in a nonlinear dispersive Kerr medium. Such interesting phenomena as spatial and temporal solitons1 as well as multidimensional wave collapse2 are among the effects that have been predicted by the NLSE.
