Abstract
High-speed modulation of semiconductor lasers is a critical issue in photonics. The unique properties of the semiconductor whispering-gallery-mode microdisk laser offer a novel opportunity for coupling the electron/hole plasma response and laser cavity modes at terahertz frequencies. Here, we explore this coupling by driving the collective electron mode of a whispering-gallery-mode microdisk laser with terahertz radiation while we observe the laser emission.
