Abstract

Chromium-doped forsterite crystal (Cr4+:Mg2SiO4) has broad emission in the spectral range of 1.17-1.34 µm when excited at 1.06 µm and can be used as an active medium for a tunable laser pumped by the fundamental frequency of an Nd:YAG laser. Several groups have recently reported on the self-mode-locked generation of ultrashort pulses from forsterite laser.1-4
