Abstract

We investigate the spontaneous emission of GaAs quantum-well (QW) excitons in a monolithic high-Q microcavity. When the QW excitons are excited by a non resonant pump wave at high above the band gap, the incoherent spontaneous emission is concentrated on the single resonant mode and the laser threshold is reduced by several orders of magnitude as a significant result of cavity modified spontaneous emission.1
