Abstract

The common methods of measuring emission and absorption cross sections of laser ma tenais are based on optical spectroscopy and involve the principle of reciprocity; i.e., the absolute magnitudes of the emission cross sections are derived from the absorption spectra. Otherwise, these values are interrelated through the spectral profile of the spontaneous emission.1
