Abstract

The seminal work of Sam McCall and coworkers[1] on monolithic semiconductor microcavities has lead to vertical-cavity surface- emitting lasers and, in the area of quantum optics, to studies of controlled spontaneous emission[2,3] and vacuum-field Rabi splitting. [4]
