Abstract

The successful development of the long baseline laser interferometers is dependent on the availability of, amongst other components, a high power low noise laser system. One technique for producing this laser is injection locking, where a low power laser (mWatts) is used to influence the oscillation of a higher powered laser (Watts). The technique has been used extensively for many years. However, until recently we have been unaware of its intensity noise limits.
