Abstract

Time-division demultiplexing is a key-function for the development of very high-bit rate optical communication systems. An essential ingredient of a demultiplexer (DEMUX) is timing extraction (clock recovery). To control the DEMUX a signal synchronized to the clock-phase of the original data signal has to be generated. This can be achieved by opto-electronic means and by optical methods [1-6].
