Atom dynamics and spectroscopy in a confined vapor film

Abstract

Linear transmission spectroscopy through a thin cell of resonant vapor reveals a Doppler-free contribution originating in atoms experiencing the longest time-of-flight. We discuss the large field of application that it opens.
