Superradiant laser beyond the semiclassical limit

Abstract

A superradiant laser would involve N identical three-level atoms coherently pumped on one transition and resonantly coupled to resonator modes on the two other transitions. Previous investigations were based on the semiclassical approximation, ie by linearising with respect to operator valued fluctuations around c-number stationary mean values. We here consider two situations where quantum behaviour can be studied in more detail. Both of these require full cooperativity of all N atoms.
