Abstract

Resonance coupling between side polished single-mode fibres and passive thin-film optical waveguides with active superstrates, which are based on bulk laser crystals, has been used for inline fibre amplifiers. The light travelling in the single-mode fibre transferred into the waveguide and it was amplified through the evanescent field in the active superstrate [ 1,2].
