Quantum-nose correlation between sub-poissonian photon fluxes by Stark-effect blockade of émisions in series-connected semiconductor diodes

Abstract

Photon-paired twin beams have been generated in parametric down converters.[1] Such correlated photon pair beams would be of advantage in quantum optical experiments where strong photon pair correlations are essential. As sources emitting correlated-photonfluxes, which are much easier to handle, electrically coupled semiconuctor light emitters driven by a high-impedance constant-current source have been investigated [2,3], However, the feasibility of the constant-current operation in 10- photon regime, namely in a low-current high-frequency regime, I0=16nA and Ω = 10GHz is highly questionable. A new scheme for the genertion of sub-Poissonian photon fluxes based on quantum-confined Stark effect (QCSE) blockade of photon emissions in a tailor-made semiconductor diode has been very recently proposed to overcome such difficulty[4]. The aim of this talk is to demonstrate the generation of strongly correlated twin (or multiple) photon fluxes at 100-photon levels in the quantum (sub-Poissonian statistics) regime via the QCSE-blockade in series-connected diodes, driven by a constant voltage source.
