Simultaneous transmittive electrooptic and four- wave-mixing detection of electron and hole-dynamics in an asymmetric double quantum well

Abstract

Simultaneous four-wave-mixing (FWM) and transmittive electroopitc (TEOS) measurements [1,2] were performed in an asymmetric double quantum well (a-DQW) to compare inter- and intraband wavepacket dynamics in a simple quantum structure [3]. FWM is undoubtedly related to the interband dynamics and detects both the coherent electronic and hole dynamics of this system. In contrast to previous measurements performed on superlattices, where the TEOS-signal reflects the χ(2) intraband dynamics [2,4], in a-DQW this signal is totally dominated by a χ(3) interband contribution.
