Abstract

Fiber optic sensors are non-conductive devices, immune to electromagnetic interference, resistant to chemical corrosion, and to high and to low temperatures. Thereafter they present an attractive solution for liquid-level measurement [1]. For this application, effective refractometric transducers has been already demonstrated [2]. However, many problems arise on a system level, if a number of individual transducers is essentially large. To minimise the number of the most expensive components, we have developed a time-multiplexed system, that utilize a complex optical fiber network to interconnect semiconductor laser sources, optical transducers and photoreceivers.
