Abstract
A clear spontaneous emission (SE) enhancement (up to x 15) has been observed for InAs quantum boxes (QBs) on resonance with the discrete modes of 3D microcavities[1]. The operation of future solid-state single photon sources, based on single QBs on resonance in a 3D microcavity, relies on this strong Purcell effect [1-2]. By enhancing selectively the QB emission into a single cavity mode, it allows indeed to funnel a large fraction of the QB emission into this mode (β>0.9). Until now however, the Purcell effect has been observed only on collections of QBs.
