Abstract

Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) can emit multiple transverse modes when increasing the injection current due to Spatial Hole Burning. In this work an analysis of the nonlinear dynamics of current modulated weakly index guided VCSELs in a multitransverse mode regime is performed. This is done by using a dynamical model that takes into account the spatial dependence of electrical field and carrier density profiles [1]. In this model all the transverse modes (LPmn) supported by the waveguide are considered. This generalizes results previously found is an assumed two transverse mode operation [2].
