Cold atoms diagnostics by non-linear spectroscopy

Abstract

We have performed a series of measurements of absorption and wave mixing with cold Rb atoms contained in a magneto-optical trap. Contrary to several previous experiments our measurements were taken without switching off the trapping σ+ beams, and thus allow for a direct probing of MOT conditions.
