Abstract

Quantized vortices were recently observed in a binary mixture of the hyperfine states of 87Rb atoms [1] and in optically steered single component condensate of 87Rb [2]. These observations are the most spectacular evidences of the superfluid properties of atomic condensates. In this paper I will present results of the detailed asymptotic and numerical results on stability of unit and higher order vortices in coupled GIoss-Pitaevskii equations, which model the experimental work [1]
