Tunable Optical Gain and Amplified Spontaneous Emission Using Type I and Type II Nanocrystal Heterostructures

Abstract

We study the effect of type I vs. type II carrier localization on optical gain properties of multishell nanocrystal heterostructures. Our results indicate that type-II structures provide improved gain performance in the green-blue spectral range.
