Transport and Disruption of Bose-Einstein Condensates in Optical Lattices

Abstract

We present experimental and theoretical studies of the transport of Bose-Einstein condensates in optical lattices. For low lattice accelerations, Bragg reflection generates a train of solitons and vortex rings, which strongly disrupt the atom cloud.
