Ring laser measurement of magnetochiral interaction : application to Pasteur's tartrates

Abstract

Using a home-made ring laser, we have isolated the magnetochiral interaction in tartrates and measured ∆n = 10-12. The experimental results are in agreement with a dipole-dipole interaction model. Applications for laser-induced stereochemistry are discussed.
