All-optical coherent stopping and storage of light

Abstract

We show that light can be stopped and stored coherently with an all-optical adiabatic bandwidth compression process, without any coherent or resonant light-matter interactions. Such a process overcomes the fundamental bandwidth-delay constraint in optics.
