Brillouin Cross-Gain Modulation and 10−4 c Slow-Light

Abstract

We introduce a new method of achieving cross-gain modulation and slow light using the Brillouin nonlinearity in an optical fiber. We demonstrate approx. 10−4 c group velocity using this technique with milliwatts of optical power.
