Microwave Frequency Transfer by Propagation of an Optical Frequency Comb over Optical Fibre

Abstract

The repetition rate of a mode-locked laser is transferred over 50 km of spooled fibre with instability below 5 × 10−15 τ−1/2, rendering this technique suitable for disseminating state-of-the-art microwave oscillators and optically-derived microwave references.
