Abstract

Ring traps for ultracold atoms are promising tools for studying problems in quantum physics (e.g. persistent currents [1]) and developing applications in metrology (e.g. production of NOON states) [2] and quantum information processing. Atom-chip technology is a natural platform to produce such trapping potentials, with the advantage of accurate control over the atomic internal degrees of freedom and access to state-dependent potential tailoring [3].
