Technology challenges for aerial infrared imaging for wide area persistent surveillance

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

There is an exponentially increasing need for airborne surveillance using wide field-of-view sensors providing persistent imagery of conflicted areas. This presentation will discuss technology challenges in the areas of infrared arrays, wide field-of-view optics, lightweight pointing and stabilization, and exploitation capabilities for advanced day/night systems for wide area persistent surveillance
