Abstract

We demonstrate a multimodal omnidirectional camera that can capture both visible and infrared wavebands simultaneously of the same scene at 180 degrees field of view. This requires a special optical configuration which consists of a fisheye lens camera and a catadioptric camera, face to face with a curved mirror sandwiched between. We show optical design, simulation results and a prototype camera. The proposed camera can be used in many aspects of life such as 24h7d surveillance, infrastructure inspection and maintenance, fire detection, volcano monitoring etc.
