Optimization of Turbulence Phase Screen Distribution for Wave-Optics Analysis of Laser Beam Propagation over Extended-Range Atmospheric Paths

Abstract

A mathematical model for optimal positioning of turbulence phase screens of nearly equal strength along long-range, slant laser beam propagation paths is presented and analyzed. The proposed technique is evaluated using wave-optics numerical simulations.
