Abstract
In a fabrication of geometrical waveguides for near-eye displays, edges of elemental prisms forming an out-coupler are beveled unavoidably. The beveled edges distort the light propagation in the transmission path, and degrade the see-through property of the waveguide. In this paper, we analyze the effect of the beveled edges in the geometrical waveguides, and present an optical compensation method by using index matching cover layers. The experimental results validate the proposed method via the clear see-through images.
