Superresolution Elements for High-Density Optical Storage

Abstract

An important strategy to increase the density of data stored in optical disks consists of using superresolution filters (SF) to increase its resolving power. There are a number of alternative schemes to achieve superresolution in optical heads1. Usual problems associated with most design techniques are reduced efficiency and large sidelobes over a limited field of view. However, with careful considerations it is possible to obtain solutions acceptable for use in optical data storage systems.
