Abstract

In order to achieve a large capacity magneto-optical (MO) disk memory, multi-pulse writing method for accurate control of the locus of the recorded mark edge has been made practical[1]. After the development, 2GB/130mm MO disk memory is now a practicality. Meanwhile, to realize a high data transfer rate in recording, we have already reported the light intensity modulation (LIM) type direct overwrite (DOW) method with the exchange coupled multilayered DOW-MO disk. Also, we have confirmed 2GB/130mm memory is a practicality on the DOW-MO disk[2]. In this paper, we report that using the multi-pulse writing method on DOW-MO disk, optimum MO-drive conditions for the widest power margin have been found.
