Abstract

There has been considerable interest recently in the use of digital terrain maps for aircraft avionics systems. Recent advances in the real-time manipulation of digital cartographic databases have led to the development of sophisticated airborne terrain management systems [6]. This capability has sparked renewed interest in digital map-aided navigation.
