Abstract
Spectral imaging is used in a wide variety of fields in which not just the light spectrum at a single location but where the spatial distribution of the spectrum is needed. Although most spectroscopy is performed on stationary samples, where the user can use scanning methods to obtain the complete (x, y, λ) dataset, some applications exhibit dynamic spatial changes such that the time dimension must also be sampled simultaneously, delivering a 4D (x, y, λ, t) dataset. These dynamic measurements often require a higher temporal resolution or better light collection efficiency than scanning methods can achieve. Examples of this regime include fast-moving object detection & tracking, in vivo biomedical imaging, and gas cloud imaging.
