Selective thermal emitters with Tamm plasmon polaritons

Surface waves can cause enhanced energy dissipation in a metal, which converts light into thermal energy [1]. A well-known surface wave is surface plasmon polariton (SPP) which propagates along a metal/dielectric interface [2]. Besides SPP, there is another kind of surface wave called Tamm plasmon polariton (TPP) [3]. Unlike SPPs, TPPs can be excited directly through a normal incidence angle of both TE- and TM- polarized light [4].
