Abstract
Single-crystalline 1.5-5 at.% Tm3+:CaF2 layers (thickness: 20-120 µm) are grown by Liquid Phase Epitaxy. Their structure, absorption, emission and waveguiding properties (propagation losses: <2 dB/cm) are studied. The formation of Tm3+ clusters is evidenced.
