MWIR Upconversion Detection for Infrared Gas Spectroscopy

Abstract

Signal upconversion by sum frequency generation is presented as a tool for fast, low-noise sensing of infrared radiation. Methane detection is demonstrated for laser-based and thermal illumination. Applicability towards further laser-based detection methods is considered.
