Sub-Doppler retrofluorescence from an optically thick atomic vapor

Abstract

Sub-Doppler contributions are observed in back-fluorescence spectra of a dense laser-excited atomic vapor. These features have similarities with the narrow contributions observed in fluorescence or in absorption signals of thin vapor cells.
