Electromagnetic Behavior of the Relativistic Fermi Gas

Abstract

We obtain the electromagnetic modes of propagation in a Relativistic Fermi Gas and show that there is a region in the graph of the dispersion relation where both the electric permittivity and magnetic permeability are simultaneously negative, a behavior known to occur in artificial metamaterials.
