Reduced-Clad Fibers for High-Density Optical Connectivity

Abstract

Smaller-diameter fibers are migrating into data center applications to increase connectivity density. Our modelling and measurements indicate that a cladding diameter of 100 m delivers better microbending and attenuation compared to 80 m diameter fibers.
