Balloonborne Lidar for Density Measurements

Not Accessible

Abstract

At the present time our balloon measurements emphasize the de termination of molecular density and superimposed aerosol concentrations within 40 km of the balloon using simple Rayleigh/Mie backscattering with a two- or three-color lidar. Planned extensions of this system include adding the capability for DIAL measurements of atmospheric pressure, temperature, moisture content and density at low altitudes.
