Algorithm for Obtaining Aerosol Backscatter Cross-Section Distribution with an LDV*

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

An algorithm for obtaining the backscatter cross-section (bcs) distribution from cw LDV data at 10.6 microns has been developed. The LDV system must be focused so that single-particle signals dominate. A histogram of peak backscatter signals from single particles can be used to deconvolve the bcs distribution from the focal-volume sensitivity topology.
