Controlling Decoherence in Rydberg Quantum Bits

Abstract

Pulsed electric fields and the entanglement of electron spin and orbital angular momentum are exploited to create arbitrary qbits in Li Rydberg atoms. Periodic application of a quantum NOT operation preserves these qbits against decoherence.
