Abstract

Photoelectron spectra of 1,3-cyclohexadiene in the ultrashort-lived 11B2 state have been investigated. The C=C stretching vibration at 1350 cm-1 is found to be prominent, which likely is responsible for the beginning of the entire ring opening event in CHD.
