Light Propagation in Colloidal Crystals and Glass: The Role of the Packing Geometry

Abstract

We study light propagation in films composed of random mixtures of strongly-and weakly-scattering spheres. The transport mean free path of photons, l*, is enhanced when the coordination number of strong scatterers is ~ 4.
